(Liz Klimas) The “Glock Block” isn’t a new boy band, but it is a band of neighbors coming together in an effort to stop petty crimes by warning everyone that they’re packing heat.
The Milwaukee, Oregon, neighbors in Clackamas County are headed by Coy Toloman, according to KOIN-TV, who said they don’t feel previous measures were doing enough.
“We don’t feel neighborhood watch is sufficient, and we don’t feel the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office is sufficient,” Toloman said.
The group is getting word out in front of potential thieves by posting flyers that read: “This is a Glock block. We don’t call 911.”
Glock, for those who aren’t aware, is a popular gun manufacturer.
Tolomon says it’s the little things that are getting stolen that neighbors have had enough of. For Toloman, it was an outdoor statue she called “Lilly Rose.” Tolomon saw the statue being stolen and even chased after the man, but he escaped.
It was after that incident she got her concealed carry permit.
“I will defend myself — and my home,” she told KOIN.
The hope of the group is that by issuing warnings around the neighborhood to reduce the occurrence of small crimes, they will be preventing larger incidents in the future.
