Clermont County Upgrades 911 Database

(Clermont Co.) The State of Ohio is urging every county to standardize and update its 911 database to increase response times. As part of that directive Clermont County's Kelly Perry says they've recently completed verifying addresses. Drivers with a GPS marking systems " physically drove every single street in Clermont County," said Perry. Crews verifying addresses found 5,000 residences without house numbers. After verifying the addresses, that information was loaded into the 911 system. Perry said that will help dispatchers get EMS crews to the right place more quickly by "having more accurate and more addresses will only help them."  The project cost about $466,000, but with state contributions Clermont County only had to chip in about $17,000.
