(Over-the-Rhine) -- There's already been an economic benefits study for the streetcar, but critics of the project have been skeptical of the projections. John Deatrick says they've decided to start measuring what growth there is along the under-construction line.
When it's completed, the first phase of the Cincinnati Streetcar will run from just north of Findlay Market, down Race Street to Central Parkway, over to Walnut, and down to the Banks. Coming back, the line will go up Main Street to Central Parkway, over to Elm, and north of Findlay Market again.
Project Manager Deatrick says they're unifying similar efforts from Findlay Market, the OTR Chamber, and the Brewery District. They'll collect information from the Hamilton County Auditor's Office, Building Department and the Health Department, to name a few.
They'll look at building permits, property transfers, permits for restaurants, and five other categories.
Deatrick says they don't want to hire additional consultants. He says the first monthly report should be released in about six months.
