( Cincinnati ) - Hamilton County Commissioner Todd Portune announced in December that he was thinking about running for Ohio Governor.
Since then, he's been talking to community leaders and possible voters in 38 of Ohio's 88 counties, and has decided that he's unable to carry things any further.
Portune never officially announced a running mate, though a statement from his office says he was very close to announcing former Toledo Mayor Jack Ford.
That statement also said "While we have concluded that we are unable to meet our goals for the state through the means of a gubernatorial race, we both look forward to continuing in our efforts to work for the betterment of the Ohio Democratic Party and for the State of Ohio in other ways than as candidates for statewide office."
Portune says he plans to keep working as hard as possible, at the local level, to help Ohio.
