Pedestrian Critical After Being Hit By A Car in Hamilton

(Hamilton, OH)--A 61-year-old man is in critical condition at UC Medical Center in Cincinnati after being hit by a car Tuesday night. The accident happened at 9:40 p.m.

Officers found Wade A. Carpenter lying in the middle of the High/Main St. bridge. They said Carpenter ran into the side of a car driven by Effie Baker, 52.  She was eastbound when Carpenter walked in front of her, and hit the car and the windshield, according to police.  Investigators said Carpenter was not in a crosswalk.

Police did not plan to charge Baker, and there was no evidence of alcohol or drugs.

They added that alcohol could be a factor for Carpenter, and he could be charged later.

Anyone who might have seen the accident is asked to call the Hamilton Police Traffic Section at 513-868-5811, ext. 2008.
