Ohio Expanding List of Repeat Drunk-Drivers

(Columbus, OH)--The Ohio Public Safety Department has announced they have expanded their online registry of repeat drunk-drivers.

The department is now compiling the updated list from electronic records, instead of relying on local courts to supply the information.

The registry includes the names of drivers who have five or more DUI convictions in the past two decades.

According to DMV.org

An alcohol-related fatality occurs every 30 minutes.

An alcohol-related traffic injury occurs every two minutes.

Almost half of the drivers arrested for drunk driving are repeat offenders.

Two-thirds of drivers with suspended licenses continue to drive.

In Ohio, it's estimated that roughly 400 people will die, 15,000 will be injured, and 20,000 will be involved in an alcohol-related crash¯every year.

The online registry now contains about 5,300 names including Juvenile offenses, previously containing about 400 names before the update. Names can be found at https://ext.dps.state.oh.us/omvi/
