(Union Township, OH) -- Drivers on I-275 at Eastgate should be aware of the closing of two off-ramps. Tuesday, February 17, the Ohio Department of Transportation will permanently close the ramp from southbound I-275 to eastbound State Route 32, and the ramp from northbound 275 to westbound 32.
There will be just one ramp, off of 275, in both directions, and at the bottom of those ramps, there will be a stoplight.
ODOT spokesperson Sharon Smigielski says they've had message boards up warning motorists for weeks, so they don't anticipate confusion.
She says the change means they have been eliminate four "merge-and-weave" zones, where traffic getting on, and off 275, was intermingling. Smigielski says the change should mean safer conditions, and less congestion.
