Metro to Stop Selling 10-Ride Zone 1 Tickets

Cincinnati, Ohio-Starting August 1, the Metro will no longer sell 10-ride Zone 1 tickets and start to sell Metro stored-value cards.

The cards will be available in prepaid amounts of $10, $20, and $30 and can be used to pay all zone fees, buy transfers, pay discounted fares, and even fares for multiple riders.

When a rider enters the bus, they have to tell the driver what they are paying for and insert the card into the slot located on top of the farebox. The farebox, will then deduct the fare from the card on each ride.

The cards will be for sale at the Metro’s sales office downtown. After August 1, Metro will no longer sell 10-ride Zone 1 tickets, but will continue to accept 10-ride Zone 1 tickets through Dec. 31, 2013.
