Social networking websites are being used by Cincinnati, to post emergency information, and provide a way for the city to connect with different neighborhoods.
Cincinnati Mayor Mark Mallory recently announced a partnership with San Francisco-based Nextdoor, a free, private website that will reportedly will help the city talk about neighborhood issues, with people in separate neighborhoods.
According to the website At least 40 of the 70 websites that Nextdoor considers part of Cincinnati have signed up.
Interim Cincinnati Police Chief Paul Humphries says the partnership will allow police to report information about crimes directly to the affected community. Police and some departments will be able to post emergency notifications and other information on individual Nextdoor sites within the city.
Residents only have access to the page for their neighborhood and can post information about local events, safety and other issues.
