Bengals, Peko agree to contract extension

Bengals, Peko agree to contract extension

The Bengals might be moving too slowly for some tastes on other contract fronts, but they’re working to keep their strength strong.

According to Geoff Hobson of the team’s official website, the Bengals have reached a two-year contract extension with defensive tackle Domata Peko.

That will keep Peko under contract through 2016, as he was entering the final year of his deal, at $3.965 million.

A solid run-stopper, he doesn’t make that many plays on his own, but helps create space for teammate Geno Atkins to create pressure up the middle.

While it’s not a deal for a high-profile quarterback or wide receiver, it’s the kind of move the Bengals need to make to make sure they stay competitive while they work on the other side of the ball.
