$1 Million Gift to Smale Park

(Cincinnati) -- The Oliver Family Foundation has donated $1,000,000 for the endowment fund of Cincinnati Park's Smale Riverfront Park.  The donation will go toward the care and upkeep of the park between the Ohio River, and the Banks.

Phase One of the planned 45-acre park is mostly complete, and includes fountains, porch swings, the Black Brigade Memorial, and the Schmidlapp Event Lawn.  Phase Two, to the west of the Suspension Bridge will include a covered carousel, the Vine Street fountains, and more green space.

Rich and Debbie Oliver say "Smale Riverfront Park is so important to the vitality of our city which is why its longterm financial stability has to be assured."  Debbie Oliver is a co-founder of the Women's Committee for Smale Riverfront Park.

"This endowment from the Oliver Family Foundation will ensure that this phenomenal new destination park in our community will remain beautiful, clean, safe, green and vibrant for succeeding generations," according to Director of Cincinnati Parks, Willie Carden.
